Privacy Policy
Last updated: August 5, 2026
Canada's Next Top Adventure Dog ("Top Adventure Dog", "we", "us") is an independent media property operated from Squamish, British Columbia, with FRAPS Institute as founding sponsor. This policy explains what information we collect through topadventuredog.ca (the "Site"), how we use it, and the choices you have. Personal information does not include information that is collected anonymously or that has been de-identified.
What we collect
Depending on how you use the Site, we may collect:
- Waitlist & updates: your email address and the page you signed up from.
- Contest entries: your name, email, Instagram handle, hometown, your dog's name, breed, age, stories, and the photos and video you submit.
- Voting & anti-fraud data: your email address (for vote verification), plus technical signals such as hashed IP address and hashed browser information used only to keep voting fair.
- Sponsor & contact inquiries: the name, email, company and message you send us.
- Automatic data: basic device and usage information collected by our hosting and security providers to run and protect the Site.
How we use it
- To run the contest: reviewing entries, publishing approved dog profiles, counting votes, selecting finalists and awarding prizes.
- To send you emails you asked for: contest updates, entry confirmations and voting reminders. Marketing emails are only sent with your consent and every one includes an unsubscribe link (per Canada's Anti-Spam Legislation).
- To keep things fair and secure: detecting duplicate or fraudulent entries and votes.
- To respond to sponsor and support inquiries.
- To comply with legal obligations.
What's public: if your entry is approved, your dog's profile page — dog's name, photos, video, stories, hometown and your Instagram handle if provided — is published on the Site and may be shared on Top Adventure Dog social channels. Your email address is never published.
Who we share it with
We don't sell your personal information. We share it only with service providers who help us run the Site, under their own privacy and security commitments:
- Vercel — website hosting
- Supabase — secure database and photo storage
- Klaviyo — email list management and sending
- Cloudflare — bot protection and video hosting
- Resend — transactional email (entry confirmations)
We may also share entry content with contest sponsors for prize fulfillment (e.g. your shipping details, with your consent, if you win), and disclose information where required by law.
Sponsor emails (opt-in only): if you check the optional box on the entry form, we share your email address with official contest sponsors so they can send you their own offers and news. Each sponsor handles your email under its own privacy policy, and you can unsubscribe from any sponsor's emails directly or withdraw this consent anytime by emailing us. If you don't check the box, your email is never shared with sponsors.
Your choices & rights
- Unsubscribe from marketing emails anytime via the link in any email.
- Access, correct or delete your personal information, or withdraw an entry, by emailing us. Subject to applicable law (including PIPEDA and BC's PIPA), we'll act on your request within a reasonable time.
- Withdraw consent to the public display of your entry — we'll take the profile page down, though shared social posts may persist on third-party platforms.
Retention
We keep contest data for the duration of the contest and a reasonable period afterward for record-keeping, then delete or de-identify it. Email list data is kept until you unsubscribe or ask us to remove it.
Age
The Site and contest are intended for people who have reached the age of majority in their province or territory. We do not knowingly collect personal information from minors.
Changes
We may update this policy from time to time. Material changes will be posted here with a new "last updated" date.
