3. Who can enter
- You must be a legal resident of Canada and have reached the age of majority in your province or territory.
- The dog you enter must be owned by you or in your permanent care, and must be healthy and up to date on core vaccinations.
- One entry (one dog) per person / email address.
- Judges, contest organizers, and their immediate family members and household are not eligible to enter.
4. How to enter
- Complete the entry form at topadventuredog.ca/enter, including 3–6 photos of your dog and your dog's adventure stories. A short video (up to 60 seconds) is optional but encouraged.
- Optionally link a public Instagram reel or post featuring your dog tagged #topadventuredog to earn the Trail Verified badge.
- Entries are moderated. The Organizer may decline or remove entries that are off-topic, inappropriate, misrepresent ownership, feature unsafe treatment of animals, or otherwise violate these rules. Approved entries appear as public profile pages on the Site.
5. Content you submit
- You confirm that you took, or hold the rights to, all photos and video you submit, and that they feature your dog.
- By entering, you grant the Organizer and FRAPS Institute a non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to display, reproduce and share your submitted photos, video, stories and dog's name on topadventuredog.ca and on contest social media channels, with credit where practical, for promotion of the Contest and future editions.
- You keep ownership of your content. You may withdraw your entry at any time by emailing the Organizer.
6. Animal welfare
Adventure safely. Content showing dogs in distress, unsafe conditions, or violating leash and land-use regulations will be disqualified. Nothing in this Contest should encourage taking risks with your dog's health or safety. When in doubt, sit the summit out.
E-collars. Electronic collars (e-collars, shock collars, and similar remote stimulation devices) may not be worn, used, featured or promoted in any entry content, including photos, video, stories, linked Instagram content and weekly challenge submissions. Entries that feature or promote e-collar use will be declined, or removed if discovered after approval. This applies to entry content only; it is not a judgment of any individual training approach off-contest.
7. Voting
- Public voting runs September 1 – October 7, 2026 at topadventuredog.ca. One base vote per person per day, verified by email.
- Bonus votes can be earned through referral links (capped at 25 bonus votes per dog) and weekly challenges announced on the Site and social channels.
- Votes generated by scripts, bots, purchased engagement, duplicate accounts or any other manipulation will be void, and the associated entry may be disqualified. The Organizer's fraud determinations are final.
8. Finalists & winner selection
- Top 10 finalists: the 8 dogs with the most valid votes, plus 2 wildcard picks selected by the judging panel.
- Winner: selected from the Top 10 by the judging panel based on adventure spirit, storytelling, content quality and community engagement. Judging decisions are final.
- Before being declared the winner, the selected entrant must correctly answer a mathematical skill-testing question without assistance, and sign a standard declaration and release.
9. Prizes
- The winner receives the title of Canada's Top Adventure Dog 2026 and a grand prize sponsor package with an approximate total retail value of at least $10,000 CAD, including product and experience prizes from contest sponsors (as displayed on topadventuredog.ca, subject to sponsor terms — e.g. hotel stays are subject to availability and blackout dates). The package value may increase as additional sponsors join; any changes will be reflected on the Site.
- The runner-up (second-place dog, as determined by the judging panel) receives a sponsor prize package with an estimated retail value of $2,500 or more, including a FRAPS merchandise kit, a 6-month supply of FRAPS Dog Fuel, a 2-night stay at Sandman Hotel & Suites Squamish, a RUX cooler cube and cooler bag, an assortment of Nonny and Nude beverages, and a lunch-and-hike outing with FRAPS mascot Alma. Contents are subject to the same sponsor terms (hotel stays subject to availability and blackout dates).
- Prizes must be accepted as awarded, are not transferable, and cannot be exchanged for cash. The Organizer may substitute any prize with one of equal or greater value if a prize becomes unavailable.
- Odds of winning depend on the number of eligible entries and votes received.
10. General
- By entering, you agree to these rules and the decisions of the Organizer, which are final on all matters relating to the Contest.
- The Organizer may cancel, suspend or modify the Contest if fraud or technical failure compromises its integrity.
- The Organizer, sponsors and judges are not responsible for late, lost, or misdirected entries or votes, or technical failures beyond their control.
- To the maximum extent permitted by law, entrants release the Organizer and sponsors from any liability arising from participation in the Contest or use of a prize.
